“We live in deeds, not years”
The memorial tree planted in Sark to commemorate the October 1942 commando raid. Note that Major Geoffrey Appleyard, the commander of the force, was only 26 years old when he died. The tree can be found by walking the route the commandos took; it is near the Dixcart Hotel.
